    Seeking Gods Love in Peru

    July 6, 2019

     Written by :  Janice Tang

Hello my name is Janice and I’m from Mississauga Chinese Alliance Church. I just want to share some of the highlights of the trip. Peru has been a place full of good surprises where God has revealed Himself to me and shown me His Heart.

One of the reasons that I decided to come to Peru is to see how God works in different places, and not just in Canada. I have experienced God’s presence throughout this trip. He has been working in the Peruvians by blessing them with the ministries, which includes Inca Thakhi, Elim, Mana, and Amijai. I have personally visited them all and seen God’s work in the children who have experienced the love of God. I am able to see God’s love for His people, and God has opened my eyes to a new meaning of joy. It can truly only be found in Christ. A moment when this was evident was in Mana when the kids led us into worship and dances. I was touched and moved by their desire to seek God and to also praise Him. God works in miraculous ways, and through those children I am able to experience His perfect love for all His people. The love of God truly does cover all.

Another moment in which God has taught me something was in Elim. It is located on the side of an active garbage dump. I was shocked to see communities that live in the garbage dump, and seeing kids that live in conditions that we consider as below the standard broke my heart. I still remember that moment when I got off the bus with a ball, the kids immediately ran towards me and wanted to play a game of catch. They really appreciated the little things and found joy in whatever they have. I noticed that they tied ropes and used a cardboard as a swing. There were many kids who played together in that area, and they use whatever they had to turn it into their own version of a playground. It was encouraging to see how happy the kids were and this led me to reflect on my own lifestyle and the things that I pursue. A lot of the times I tend to seek for materialistic things, or earthly treasures. But through this I have learned the importance of heavenly treasures as they last forever. Whereas earthly treasures are only momentary.

Overall, I have learned so much on this trip and there is still so much to share. But the most important thing that I’ve witnessed is God’s love. This inspires me to continue sharing His love. My hope is to see what God has in store for the people in Peru and to continue seeing Him work in them.
