By today it’s been over half of our trip here! I’m excited to go home and finally take a hot shower and sleep in my comfy bed. Also I’m sad that we’re already leaving soon. I’ve made new friends with the other churches and have made many new great memories.
One of my favourite moments is going to this ministry, Elim. The area was quite shocking to see. It was basically a garbage dump with a little building for the little kids to learn about Gods words. What was shocking was that kids were happy, not disturbed by their living conditions. It was actually fun when we went to play with the kids and did our little program. I did a skit/bible story with a few other members in my church about “The Good Samaritan”. I felt that the skit went well and that the kids enjoyed it. Then we did some crafts and played outside. They were so happy as we picked them up on our backs and carried them around. Seeing them happy really made me happy and made me forget that I was in a dumpsite. I really do appreciate that God gave me the opportunity to see Elim and the different living conditions that they live in down here in Trujillo.
From that day I've really started to look at things differently and Looking back at everything I have back in Canada of things that I should’ve appreciated more.
This also opened my eyes on what God has been doing outside of Canada. We’re so used to seeing things around us from waking up from our beds, going to school or work, to going back to bed for sleep then repeat. We see little things that can be so insignificant to us but can be so significant to people in other places. Such as we throw litter on the ground and think the little piece of gum wrapper won’t do anything, but in fact in Trujillo theres garbage everywhere and is very hard to get rid of. More harder than back home in Canada.
I thank God for everything I’ve seen so far and will keep thanking him as this trip is still ongoing and thank those who have supported and prayed for everyone and myself on this mission trip.
